2016 Maggie Miller Scholar Recipients
MACAC is proud to announce the recipients of the
2016 Maggie Miller ScholarshiP
Emily Johnson, Plymouth HS, will be attending the University of Michigan
majoring in Engineering. Her essay spoke of commitment to STEM field. Emily designed an engineering club for 4th & 5th grade girls at an economically disadvantaged school and created a fund request and secured funding to grow her club.
Maria Kohane, Grand Rapids West Catholic High School, will attend Hillsdale College. Makes a difference by giving back in community working/volunteering at used good store & pregnancy HELP center. Tutors others in math. Very sincere and wants to take part in Big Brothers, Big Sisters in college and work at the local food pantry in Hillsdale.
Samantha Tomiko McGrath, Canton High School will attend Western Michigan University. Making a difference by giving back to Flint. Coordinating fundraising efforts in school & community for Flint Water Crisis. Hosted a Flint Water Dance- price of admission was a case of water. Girl Scout Silver Award. Many leadership positions. Collected over 800 gallons of water. Well rounded and is excited to run track at WMU.
