Message from the President

Hello MACAC family!

I am beyond honored to serve as your 2023-24 President and am excited to be working alongside you all as we continue to support Michigan residents in attaining the goal of 60 by 30. As high school counselors and college admissions professionals, we have the opportunity to make a positive impact not only on our students' lives but the communities in which we work and reside in. Over the past 7 years of being an active member of MACAC I have witnessed first hand how breaking down silos and collaborating as a unified front have improved student experiences in post-secondary education attainment.

MACAC is committed to our membership by continuing to provide networking and professional development events, both virtual and in person, maintaining collaborative relationships with like-minded state associations and keeping our eyes on legislative activity that impacts our profession.

This past year we implemented some exciting initiatives that will continue on to the next phase of execution, including our partnership with MACRAO and StriveScan to further develop the Michigan College Fairs Committee. An ad hoc committee will continue to design and introduce our PD on the Road initiative which will bring MACAC to your regional community for a day of networking and professional development amongst your fellow high school counselors and college admissions colleagues. And let’s not forget about the movement to eliminate the financial barrier of becoming a member of this amazing association. Starting in July 2023, all new and renewing memberships of Public School Counselors will be sponsored by MACAC. As I mentioned at the annual conference, I am a servant leader and am here to support you all so please feel free to connect with me.

Respectfully yours,

Michelle M. Stanley
